The term “lawn care program” gets used broadly, and it is worth understanding what a structured professional program actually covers versus a one-time treatment or a basic fertilize-and-spray visit. The difference matters for results. Our plans are built around what Central Ohio lawns require across the full season, and this post breaks down what each component does and why it is included.
A Scheduled Visit Cadence, Not a Single Treatment
The most important structural feature of a program versus a one-time service is the schedule. Lawn care in Ohio is seasonal, and the conditions in April are completely different from those in July or October. Effective programs time each treatment to the period when it will have the most impact—pre-emergent weed control before crabgrass germination, fertilization timed to active growth phases, and winterization to build root reserves before dormancy.
Weed Busters offers three program tiers. The Silver plan covers five visits per year: Early Spring, Late Spring, Early Summer, Early Fall, and Winterization. The Gold plan adds a Summer visit and a Fall visit for seven visits total. The Platinum plan expands to nine visits and includes Grub Prevention and Fall Aeration as standard components.
What Each Visit Includes
Each program visit covers the treatments appropriate to that point in the season—fertilization with slow-release product, weed control targeting whatever species are active at that time, and assessment of the lawn’s current condition. The Early Spring visit establishes the foundation for the season, including pre-emergent crabgrass application at the critical window before soil temperatures trigger germination. Later visits maintain fertilization levels, address broadleaf weeds that have emerged, and monitor for signs of disease or grub activity.
The Winterization visit at the end of the season is one that some homeowners skip when managing their own lawn care, and it has a noticeable effect on spring green-up. Feeding the root system as the lawn goes dormant directly supports the carbohydrate reserves the grass draws on when it comes out of winter.
What Is Included Beyond the Visits
All Weed Busters programs include no-cost service calls. If a problem develops between scheduled visits—an unexpected weed outbreak or a treatment concern—we come back at no additional charge. Free weed re-sprays are included throughout the season. Every program is backed by a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
These inclusions reflect something meaningful about how the program is structured: it is not a series of one-time visits but an ongoing commitment to the lawn’s condition.
The Technician Behind the Program
Every Weed Busters technician completes a minimum one-year apprenticeship under a Senior Lawn Technician before working independently. The person treating your lawn has been trained specifically on the turf conditions, soil types, weed species, and seasonal patterns of Central Ohio. This is not incidental—it is the foundation of consistent results, and it is the reason we can guarantee no rookie technician will ever work on a customer’s property.
Add-On Services Available With a Program
Customers on any program can add targeted services based on their lawn’s specific needs. Disease control is available one time starting at $67.99. Standalone aeration starts at $49.99. Seeding starts at $149.99. Flea and tick control starts at $59.99 per month. Mosquito control starts at $74.99 per month. Curative grub control is available as a one-time service starting at $67.99 for situations where grub damage has already occurred.
The Platinum plan includes grub prevention and fall aeration as part of the base program—for properties in Central Ohio, where grub pressure and clay soil compaction are ongoing concerns, consolidating those into the plan is the more efficient approach.
